Doru Toma - Trusting each other | People of Justice 2023 Bucharest
In the 15 years that Leaders for Justice has built up, the trust between members has meant that each in turn has done the same with their new colleagues and the people around them. This has allowed us to build projects, initiatives and shows like People for Justice 2023, made with heart. In 2024, we dream of taking People of Justice to more cities across the country. Together, in the power of community and trusting each other.
I met Loredana in Leaders for Justice. She's one of those people who offer support and gives trust unconditionally Always with his heart out, ready to move mountains through Bucovina.
All the jurists you saw tonight: Andreea, Alex, Gabri, Bianca, Ramona, Cătălina, Livia or Elena aimed to show you a human face of justice. I see them as silent heroes. They don't come forward. They have fears. They're humble and with their heads on their shoulders. It's an act of courage to go out on a stage and tell the world that you've defeated your childhood demons, that you've overcome extreme situations or that you've convinced yourself to do more good. That you went off the path others were pushing you, that even introverts change the world. School has planted many insecurities within ourselves and a lot of mistrust in who we are. Getting marks of ten in all subjects, but then in life to excel only at something specific. In turn, society... "cares" to cut our wings with every injustice we experience.
Year after year we select jurists with whom we want to build a justice with a mind of its own and at the same time down to earth. We start from their authentic values and discover them through all they have achieved, with modesty and common sense. with empathy and an open mind for those who think differently. Trusting each other. In a society increasingly polarised, where moderate positions are fewer with every day passing, there is a need for real mediators. Together, we aim to to do more: more training programmes for justice professionals in the public sector, or in general, from the private sector or civic organisations. More honest and sincere events, as the {\i1}”People of Justice”{\i0} show this evening. We are nearing the end. And I want to thank everyone who has given us helping hands.
I want to thank first and foremost to the former DOR team. Everything we learned from Carla, Sorana, Cristi, Andreea and everyone else, last fall, on our tour People of Justice when we've done three shows in three cities in six days. I don't know what were we thinking. For all their openness to guide us and helping us over the last few months.
Thank you very much. Thank you to the technical teams: sound, projection and lighting, who have been patient with all the little details throughout the day.
Thanks to our partners: KPMG, BCR, Essensys Software, Aqua Carpatica, Domeniile Sâmburești and Kandia for their support. Without their contribution, we wouldn't be here today.
And a big thank you to everyone who came up the stage today. Some of them came all the way from Târgul Neamț, Suceava, Brașov or Sfântu Gheorghe.
And thank you, our audience who filled the hall tonight. You gave us confidence... You gave us confidence that there are more and more of us. I leave you with one more thought.
In our culture, we expect others to earn our trust. This simply cuts a lot of potential collaboration between us, because we first want to make sure that the other is trustworthy. Leaders for Justice has become more than a training program for one simple reason: we, all of us, offered every new member full trust and a space there to express freely. Over the past 15 years that we've been building up, this culture has paid off: every single member did the same with his new colleagues and the people around. This allowed us to build projects, initiatives and shows like this one, made with heart.
In 2024, we dream of taking the People of Justice to Sibiu, Brașov, Cluj or smaller cities, with like-minded people and open hearts. Loredana has already started the prep work in Suceava, Iulia, also an LfJ graduate, is calling us in Curtea de Argeș. And maybe we won't succeed doing all of them, but we dream with open eyes knowing we've come this far Together, in the power of community and with confidence in each other.
I end with Ana Coman's lyrics that you will hear in the music recital about to begin: I feel a 'come on, what if?" Thank you.
