How and why we started and where we are going. In short
What started in 2019 as a documentary about the human face of justice is today a show full of emotion and courage. We saw in people distrust of justice, too little hope for a fairer society and a lack of courage to make change.
This is how People of Justice started: as a bridge between worlds, as a starting point for change in local communities. Because well-told life stories have that gift. And I like to say it at every opportunity: I believe in justice in the broadest sense. Some for others, not just in courtrooms, but also on the street, in schools, hospitals or institutions.
And people in the community openly tell us things we rarely or never talk about. And I feel that we increasingly need real conversations where communities not only heal, but get to do something for a more just world.
The stories told through the People of Justice show us that there are still roads at the ends of the line. If we want to build them honestly, together. With modesty and common sense. With empathy and an open mind for those who think differently. With trust in each other.
And I have a lot of trust. I trust that we can change what is going wrong, instead of waiting for change. And I trust that we can do that not by ourselves, each in different corners, but together, at the same table.
Because after the two-hour show, where we bring together life stories, theater, poetry, film and music, we stay with the audience in the foyer to talk a little more about the power of community. And that's really where we complete the experience. We ask questions. We discuss. We realize that each of us plays a role in our community. We make plans. And we take People of Justice beyond the stage.
This fall we're taking the events to three cities and I'd love to live this story together. We'll be in:
Brasov, October 14
Sibiu, October 22
Bucharest, November 12
We (the whole team) are waiting for you at People of Justice to learn together what a more just world can look like! And who knows, maybe next time your story will be on stage.

People of Justice initiator
