Access to justice during a state of emergency

Author: Doru Toma

A team of lawyers from the Leaders for Justice community has been working on translating key information about cases being heard during the state of emergency, and the requirement to write and communicate judgments, into a visual and easy-to-read form.

Find here the list of cases that can be heard in the courts, tribunals, courts of appeal or the High Court during a state of emergency, as guided by the Superior Council of Magistracy.

We recommend that you consult the lists of the Courts of Appeal within whose jurisdiction you are bringing a claim, as there may be some slight differences from the SCM guidelines. The list of Romanian Courts of Appeal can be accessed here: https://bit.ly/35axWBg

According to the decree no. 240/2020, during the state of emergency the work of drafting and communicating court decisions continues.
